Here in Lo de Marcos ( a small village in Nayarit, Mexico) citizens are embracing a program that demonstrates how restaurants and families can eliminate plastics, glass, and other non-organic waste from their lives. As waste management services can not meet the demands of rapid growth in this Pacific coastline of Mexico, La Vida Verde was organized by local citizens that believe a more self-sustaining community is possible..
La Vida Verde strives to find simple, sustainable practices that contribute to a cleaner & greener environment. They have evolved from simple recycling efforts within the community to a focus on drastic reduction of waste at the consumer level. Their PROJECT CHALLENGE is establishing the consumer awareness outreach program, and also developing the methodology for transforming consumer lifestyles and behaviors. Ongoing metrics for success will be developed to lead to a model for broad participation in the region.
